Just recently Microsoft showed to the public a comprehensive preview of Windows 8 which motivated the geeks and non-geeks to experience the more advanced feature of this brand new OS. Starting from Metro style UI to Touch Gestures to Full screen apps, Microsoft has managed to shake up the way we have been using the Windows OS. Those who witnessed the preview last September 13, 2011 were really amazed with the super-fast boot times of Windows 8, be it on desktops, laptops, or tablets.

Starting 8PM (PT) after the live preview, anyone with a Windows Live ID will be able to download the developer preview of Windows 8 on their 32-bit or 64-bit machines. And as a gift for all avid Windows users, there is no activation required whatsoever. Compare to the previous Microsoft OS version, a user should have a MSDN/Technet subscription before he can download the dev builds. Microsoft is so generous this time to let general users to have a taste of  Windows 8 as long as you have a Windows Live ID.

Windows 8 Installation Tips

I'm pretty sure you are also excited to experience the Windows 8 dev build but beforehand, just read some useful tips about downloading the Windows 8 Developer Preview:

• No official (minimum) requirements announced. Be ready to spare at least 10-12GB of your hard drive.
• Installing it on VMs in parallel to Windows 7 (or any other Windows OS) seems to be a better bet at this point of time.
• We have seen some Windows 7 builds requiring rebuilds and installation upgrades. So be prepared.
• Update: It’s now confirmed that Windows 8 needs a clean installation. No matter how bad an idea it was to install on top of existing Windows 7 installation, it is now just not possible!
